Hyderabad: Flaying Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and TDP coalition government for failing to protect women and girls in Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP spokesperson Syamala said they are acting as a shield for the culprits rather than ensuring justice and questioned whether even one of the accused in the 75 rape cases reported in the last four months had been punished under his leadership.

Speaking to the media at the party's central office on Tuesday, Syamala highlighted the alarming rise in violence against women, pointing out that six women were brutally murdered after being raped, and an additional 200 women have been attacked over the last 120 days under the TDP coalition government. She further emphasised that, despite these horrific incidents, no concrete action has been taken by the government to address or prevent such crimes.

Syamala criticised the government for disabling the Disha app, which had previously helped over 31,600 women. She claimed the app was made ineffective because it highlighted the good work of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Syamala also showed photos of Nara Lokesh and Home Minister Anita burning copies of the Disha Act while they were in opposition. She called for the Disha app and the initiatives of the law to be brought back to ensure the safety of women.

Syamala further criticised the government’s handling of public health crises like the diarrhea outbreak and noted that sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture have been devastated under the TDP coalition governance. She listed cases of violence and injustice in Badvel, Hindupur, Tenali, and Pithapuram, and highlighted that the victims have not received justice and demanded immediate government action and warned that if this negligence continues, they will fight with the public until justice is served.
